Join us at The Secret Garden of Wrightwood for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the traditional art of making a Turkey Wing Broom!
Rooted in Appalachian broom-making traditions, the Turkey Wing Broom gets its name from its distinctive shape, which resembles the spread of a turkey's wing. These handcrafted brooms have long been valued for their practicality, using natural broomcorn to create a sturdy, functional household tool.
During this workshop, you'll learn how to shape, bind, and finish your very own Turkey Wing Broom. Your finished broom will be fully functional, perfect for sweeping countertops, tables, and small spaces. You can also add a hanging loop to display it in your kitchen, making it a beautiful piece of traditional craftsmanship that's both decorative and useful.
This is a drop-in workshop! Come anytime between noon and 6:30 PM to make your broom. No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
Last broom-making session begins at 6:30 PM.
Pre-registration is required so we can order enough materials in advance. A limited number of additional kits will be available for walk-ins on the day of the workshop, while supplies last.
Come learn a traditional skill and leave with a beautiful, handcrafted broom made by you!
