Herbology

Course Description:

Herbology is a hands-on western herbalism course that introduces students to plant identification, botany basics, gardening, and the traditional uses of herbs and common plants. Students will learn to observe plant structures, identify leaves and flowers, grow and care for herbs, and safely complete plant-based projects such as herbal tea blends, salves, infused oils, tincture-style preparations, decoctions, glycerites, oxymels, natural plant dyes, pressed flowers, seed bombs, bath bombs, and nature-based crafts. The course emphasizes safe practices, careful observation, measuring, following procedures, environmental awareness, and creative applications of plant knowledge.

Possible Skills Covered:

  • Plant identification and basic botany

  • Leaf, flower, seed, and plant structure observation

  • Gardening, herb growing, and plant care

  • Safe harvesting and ethical use of plants

  • Herbal preparation methods, including teas, salves, infused oils, decoctions, glycerites, oxymels, and tincture-style preparations

  • Measuring, mixing, heating, steeping, straining, labeling, and recording procedures

  • Natural dyeing, flower pressing, seed bombs, bath bombs, and nature-based crafts

  • Lab safety, sanitation, allergy awareness, and responsible plant handling

  • Environmental stewardship, pollinator awareness, creativity, craftsmanship, and project planning

Dungeons & Dragons: Storytelling, Strategy & Social Skills

Course Description:

This interactive Dungeons & Dragons class combines creative storytelling, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fun and engaging learning environment. Students work together to create characters, solve challenges, and build collaborative stories while developing valuable academic and life skills.

Throughout the course, students will strengthen reading comprehension, creative writing, mathematics through gameplay, communication, public speaking, and logical reasoning. Every adventure encourages students to think critically, make thoughtful decisions, and adapt to new situations while working cooperatively with others.

As a certified Behavior Technician, I naturally incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into each session. Students practice collaboration, respectful communication, emotional regulation, perspective-taking, leadership, conflict resolution, and building confidence in a supportive environment.
